Two-hundred-pound dumbbells on an incline bench for Colin Weng
His one new short is about the heaviest pair in the rack, and the comments have turned into a support group for gymgoers who couldn't get them.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
When you lift the heaviest dumbbells at the gym…
Colin Weng's channel describes him in four words, "Elite Strength • Lifetime Natural", and his one new short of the week takes the first two at face value. "When you lift the heaviest dumbbells at the gym…" shows him pressing the top of the rack on an incline bench, and it passed 190,000 views in six days.
The comments are mostly people measuring themselves against it. One viewer works out that each hand holds about their own deadlift best, another has spent years getting up to the 140s, and a sharper-eyed one points at the angle of the bench. A few have a grievance: these, it turns out, were the dumbbells they wanted for lateral raises that day. Others mostly wonder what the 200s are for at all, if not this.
The short is not what carries the channel, though. "Then everyone stopped to watch…", posted two weeks ago, is gathering views several times faster, and "Elite Lifter Trains at a Commercial Gym", a month old and past 2.3 million, still adds tens of thousands a day. Together they have the channel running well above its usual daily pace, at about 350,000 views a day.
Among the fitness channels nearest his size, that is a strong week, second only to Alexandrosthenics, whose pace is far above anyone's in the group. Nick Bare and Billy Perry are moving close to their normal rhythm.
