Bob Ross, a box and a lost step one: Reighar's 'How to Draw a Sheep'
The animated short passed a million views in just over a day, and its comments turned into a support group for everyone who has ever fallen behind in an art tutorial.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 898,225 views a day, 18 times a normal first day on this channel (48,466).
How to Draw a Sheep 🐑
Reighar, an animated storytelling channel whose shorts are voiced by @twistedpinttavern, posted "How to Draw a Sheep 🐑" on Saturday. Just over a day later it had passed a million views, far beyond what a new short there usually gathers on its first day.
Going by the comments, this is not a gentle lesson. The most liked one compares it to how quickly you lose track while Bob Ross is painting, and plenty of viewers recognize the old joke of the tutorial that starts with a couple of easy shapes and then, somehow, arrives at a finished animal. One admits that step five was simple enough but step one already lost them. Another misheard a word of the narration and decided the wrong version fit the video just as well. The comments came in about three times faster than on a usual first day.
The best reply reaches back to an older story. One viewer posted a box and said the sheep was inside, which is exactly how the narrator of The Little Prince gets out of drawing one.
It was a busy Saturday for Reighar. "Captain America 🇺🇸" went past 400,000 views by the next day, and "The Egg Fridge Debate 🥚" also started well, while "Russia's Secret Nuclear City ☢️" had a quieter first day. The channel's lifetime views run past a billion on a far smaller subscriber count, which says how far its shorts travel beyond the people who follow them.
