Earth, Wind and Just Fireball: JoCat's 'Groove' keeps the dance going
A twenty-five-day-old animation set to Earth, Wind & Fire's 'Let's Groove' sits beside the full Crap Guide to D&D on a channel that posted nothing new.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
JoCat Groove
JoCat, the graphic designer, illustrator and animator behind the Crap Guide to D&D, put up nothing new over the past seven days. The channel hardly noticed: it took in a little over a quarter of a million views, right around its usual pace.
The video doing the most daily work is the oldest of the three still moving. "A Crap Guide to D&D [5th Edition] Full Series Uninterrupted" is the whole series stitched into one sitting, every class from Barbarian to Artificer, then races, goblins, alignment, the character sheet and, at the end, the Dungeon Master. Seven and a half months after it went up, it is still the one people put on, perhaps as a primer before a first session.
The other two share a title, "JoCat Groove," and a soundtrack: Earth, Wind & Fire's "Let's Groove," the 1981 disco hit. One description says the Sword & Board is bumpin'; the other offers the pun "Earth Wind and Just Fireball," which any wizard who has ever cast the spell will appreciate. The fireball version has the bigger total, close to half a million, while its Sword & Board twin is the one gathering views faster right now.
Among the animation channels around his size, the loud weeks belong to DevilArtemis and SmashBits Animations, both running well above their usual levels. JoCat sits nearer the steady middle, with a dance number still doing the rounds.
