Ramon Dino's handshake and Hany Rambod's voice lift Chris Bumstead's Olympia diary
The behind-the-scenes film from Olympia weekend passed a quarter of a million views in twelve hours, far ahead of the three short Olympia clips posted beside it.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 409,395 views a day, 26 times a normal first day on this channel (15,434).
48 Hours at the Olympia (Behind the Scenes)
What does a six-time Classic Physique Mr. Olympia do at an Olympia he is not competing in? Chris Bumstead brought a camera. "48 Hours at the Olympia (Behind the Scenes)" had passed 280,000 views twelve hours after it went up, on course for about twenty-six times the channel's usual first day.
Bumstead won the Classic Physique title every year from 2019 to 2024, then stepped away from the stage. The new film follows a weekend he lived from the other side of the curtain. The comments show what viewers keep pausing on. Many point to the handshake with Ramon Dino, the Brazilian who spent years finishing behind Bumstead, and to how Dino greeted him. Others return to Hany Rambod, Bumstead's longtime coach. Some get chills from hearing him shout encouragement, and some linger on his reflections about the costs of a mindset built entirely around winning. One timestamped moment, two men shoving each other with their fingertips, has become the running joke. The camerawork gets its own praise too, with viewers crediting Henry, the channel's shooter and editor.
Three shorter Olympia videos went up the same day: first thoughts on this year's show, a short about the new Classic Physique champion, and a look back at Bumstead's own wake-up call at the 2022 Olympia. None has yet reached 20,000 views.
The trailer for The Standard, a documentary about Bumstead, went up the day before, and several commenters say they are waiting for it.
