Joe, Graham and Baby Tate: Emmerdale's Thursday episode makes it three in a row

The full episode broadcast on October 1 matched Monday's and Wednesday's flying starts, and its small comment section is already guessing what Graham has planned.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 117,243 views a day, 10 times a normal first day on this channel (11,460).

Among the soap and reality channels nearest its size, Emmerdale is one of the few running ahead of its usual daily pace. EastEnders, just behind it in subscribers, is in a quieter spell than normal. Much of Emmerdale's lift comes from its full episodes.

The Thursday 1 October episode, number 10668, passed 110,000 views in 22 hours. That is about ten times a usual first day for the channel, a figure pulled down by the short scene clips it posts between broadcasts. Monday's and Wednesday's full episodes ran just as far ahead of it, so Thursday makes it three in a row. Perhaps a good share of the Dales' regulars simply prefer the whole half hour to the highlights.

On screen, the week has been about a baby's future. In a clip from Wednesday, Graham gives Joe an ultimatum over keeping the baby. Thursday's clip has Thea on the verge of telling Kim the truth, until she overhears what Kim has in mind for Baby Tate and changes her mind. Kim Tate, the role Claire King first played in 1989, has rarely been the person anyone wants making plans for a child.

The episode has only a handful of comments so far, and they are mostly theories. The most liked one suspects Graham is getting ready to leave so he can quietly raise Joe's baby himself, and come back later as the one who hands the child back. Another viewer is still asking why Kim gave up her daughter.
