Politics did the lifting. Of the fifteen segments Today Show Australia posted over the seven days, the one people sought out most was Barnaby Joyce defending One Nation's new Brisbane headquarters, a building owned by mining billionaire Gina Rinehart. Joyce, a former Nationals leader and deputy prime minister, is not a man who usually backs away from a camera, and the clip passed 36,000 views in about a day, far more than anything else from the morning.

The rest of the top of the list stayed in Canberra's orbit. Angus Taylor, named in the clip's tags as Opposition Leader, talked through the Coalition's plan to cut migration, and a segment on a new One Nation ad came close behind. Both went up later in the day and picked up speed quickly.

There was lighter fare too. Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington came on to promote 'Animals', a crime thriller in which they play a married couple whose son is kidnapped, and a shopping segment offered tips on what to hunt for in the festive season sales.

The channel as a whole ran a little ahead of its usual daily pace, with roughly 1.6 million views across the week, while the subscriber count held where it was. Among the talk and morning shows nearby, that puts Today fourth of nine. Sunrise, its breakfast neighbor on Seven, is also running above its usual pace, while LADbible Entertainment draws the biggest daily crowd in the group by a long way. Conan O'Brien's channel is holding steady.
