Rates and a murder case lift Nine's Today Show Australia
A single news segment is heading for about eleven times a normal first day, while most morning and talk shows ran below their usual pace.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 102,600 views a day, 11 times a normal first day on this channel (9,140).
RBA lifts cash rate to 15-year high; Mistaken identity murder charges | Today Show Australia
Most of the morning and talk-show channels were having a soft spell, Sunrise, Loose Women and Very Important People among them. TODAY, the Nine Network's breakfast program in Australia, went the other way. Its channel ran a little above its normal daily views, and one upload did much of the lifting.
That video passed 50,000 views in its first eight hours. It is on course for a first day about eleven times what a new TODAY upload usually gathers, an unusual jump for a channel whose videos tend to open quietly. The likes stayed sparse, though, fewer than fifty so far.
It is not a celebrity chat or a cooking segment. It is a straight news package with two stories in its title. The first is the Reserve Bank of Australia lifting the cash rate to its highest level in fifteen years. The second is murder charges in a case described as mistaken identity.
