Malaysia's 'We are sick of it' speech at the UN tops WLA's thirteen uploads

Speeches from Niger and Iran at the General Assembly shared the week with Angus Scott's breakdowns of Washington, Tehran and Moscow.

On an ordinary day WLA draws something like 380,000 views. Right now it is running at roughly a tenth of that, a quiet stretch for a channel that built its audience of more than a million subscribers on news from Africa, the Middle East and the wider Global South.

The uploads did not stop, though. Thirteen went up, and the first of them is still the most watched: Malaysia's address to the UN General Assembly, credited to UNTV and posted under the title "WE ARE SICK OF IT!". It has passed 99,000 views. The comments come from Canada, Germany and Malaysia itself, and many dwell on the UN's own workings, the Security Council veto above all. Two more General Assembly speeches followed: Niger's, titled "Our Resources Are NOT Yours!", and Iran's reply to several countries.

The second half of the week turned to the Gulf. Presenter Angus Scott picked up the flydubai cockpit attack, the departure of the last U.S. troops from Iraq after twenty-three years, and the third American aircraft carrier heading for the region. His "Putin Steps In" episode is the one gathering speed, close to 57,000 views in its first day and a half, far ahead of the live streams posted around it.

Among news channels of a similar size it was a modest week for WLA, with about 1.4 million views. Hook Global had a far bigger one, near 50 million, while CNN 10 ran close to its usual pace. Subscribers held steady.
