Strong feet get their own workout at Squat University
Aaron Horschig's new tutorial moves from ball rolls and toe mobility to balance, alongside the channel's heavy-lifting clips.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
8 Tips To Build Strong and Healthy Feet (Backed by Science)
The barbell can wait a moment. Squat University's newest teaching video starts closer to the floor, with Aaron Horschig giving feet the kind of detailed attention usually reserved for squat technique.
In "8 Tips To Build Strong and Healthy Feet (Backed by Science)", the physical therapist lays out a routine that includes ball rolling, toe spacers, ankle sways, toe crunches and toe yoga, finishing with balance. His argument is that foot mobility and the small muscles supporting the arch matter well beyond the feet themselves, including when squatting and running.
That lesson is already among the channel's uploads drawing the most daily views, alongside "His Barefoot Squat Was STRONG!😳" and a clip about a strong lifter dealing with hip pain. It's a particularly Squat University pairing: the impressive lift, then the mechanics underneath it.
There were 16 uploads across the week. The most watched, "His HEAVY Lift Was Textbook!🤯", has reached about 1.2 million views. As we reported here, its deadlift setup becomes a clean and jerk: the lifter catches the bar at his shoulders, stands, then drives it overhead into a split stance. Viewers keep pointing to the form, not just the load.
Subscriber numbers were unchanged over the week, while daily viewing is currently somewhat below the channel's usual pace. Even so, Squat University had the largest weekly view gain among its listed fitness peers; Jeff Nippard also had a substantial viewing week. Horschig's latest contribution brings the focus back to something considerably smaller than a loaded barbell: learning to move your toes.
