Liam Neeson's borrowed faces: Darkman (1990) leads Science Fiction Station's week

Sam Raimi's cult classic shared the channel with Graboids, Fembots in Las Vegas and two scenes of Tom Cruise in Oblivion.

Darkman had a slow first day. Posted on September 28, Sam Raimi's 1990 cult film drew under two thousand views in its first 24 hours on Science Fiction Station, then kept climbing. Six days on, it is the busiest of the channel's new uploads, with more than 17,000 views.

The compilation follows Dr. Peyton Westlake, played by Liam Neeson, from the lab explosion that disfigures him to helicopter fights and the synthetic skin he uses to wear other men's faces. It was one of Neeson's first leading roles, years before Schindler's List. Raimi made it between Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, and the tags point to an appearance by Bruce Campbell. Under the video, one viewer admits Raimi's campier side is not their taste outside Evil Dead, but calls the premise a very cool one.

The rest of the week, eight uploads in all, ran through decades of genre film and TV: Matt Damon and Jing Tian holding The Great Wall against the Tao Tei, Val and Earl walling off a Graboid in Tremors, and Lindsay Wagner's Jaime Sommers fleeing Fembots in Las Vegas in The Bionic Woman. Two scenes from Oblivion closed it out, and the newer one, in which Tom Cruise's Jack learns his memories are real, has made the quicker start.

The channel as a whole drew about one and a half million views over seven days, a little above its usual pace, and its subscriber count held steady. Among the movie and TV clips channels closest to its size, that was the third biggest week, with the short-form channels CineSavvy and 酱sir电影局 far out in front.
