Video taking off 15x its usual first day

Rob Schneider takes on "What is a woman?" in a clean stand-up clip

The Dry Bar Comedy set drew nearly 95,000 views on its first day, on a channel where most new clips stay in the low thousands.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 94,670 views a day, 15 times a normal first day on this channel (6,175).

Rob Schneider's version of "What is a woman?" is a comedy bit, not a debate. The clip's description says only that he talks about what a woman is and why the answer is never as simple as it sounds. The comments suggest where he takes it: many viewers repeat a line about something said three years ago that comes back to haunt him, and others quote a grammar correction delivered mid-argument.

Dry Bar Clips cuts short pieces from Dry Bar Comedy, the clean stand-up brand from Provo, Utah. A new clip there usually starts with a few thousand views. This one passed 95,000 in a day. Rodney Laney's bit about film cameras went up the same day and is still under 5,000.

Schneider made his name on Saturday Night Live in the early 1990s and then in a long run of movies, many of them with Adam Sandler. Here he works a small room in the slower, drier style Dry Bar favors. One commenter thinks his timing now sounds like Bob Newhart's. Several praise the callback at the end. A few say they had never heard him before.

The longest reply thread, though, is about his career since the movies, and it is still going.

The channel's week already had another strong clip. Brad Upton's "I'm Starting To Notice My Age...", posted a few days earlier, has passed 190,000 views. Patrick Warburton's set about long marriages and tuning each other out sits in between.
