The Concerning World of Crash Bandicoot Mods and Hacks - Caddicarus
What does Caddicarus do for Crash Bandicoot's 30th birthday? Not a review of the games themselves, as it turns out. Jim Caddick's annual Bandicoot Month entry, posted fifteen days ago, is a tour through what the Crash community has done to the games: Kaizo-style hacks of the original PS1 trilogy, a Carnage mod for the N. Sane Trilogy, and Crash 4 costumes that swap in Tifa Lockhart, Mario, Velma and an Among Us crewmate. Its own description admits, with some cheer, that Bandicoot Month did not come out when it was supposed to.
The cast list is long for a video about mods. Hbomberguy turns up doing an impression of the modder ARD, Boundary Break's host has what the credits call a very wet cameo, and someone delivers a David Attenborough impression. Olly Ross is behind the camera again, and the description adds a pointed line: no generative AI was used anywhere in it.
No new uploads followed, and the channel did not seem to need any. The mods video, now past 1.2 million views, is pulling in several times more each day than anything else on the channel. Behind it, two older PS1 deep dives keep ticking over: the cheat book video from last year and the ordeal of completing Crash Bash to 200 percent, which Caddy still holds up as proof that nobody should try.
Daily views sit close to their usual level, and the subscriber count held steady. Among the gaming commentary channels around his size, Dobbs and YongYea had the busy weeks, while Caddicarus landed mid-table, carried almost entirely by one orange marsupial.
