Gielinor in Unreal Engine: Jagex teases a fourth RuneScape MMO
The unnamed project is still early in development, and the most liked reply under the teaser asks to see gameplay before anyone gets excited.

RuneScape - Official 4th MMO Teaser Trailer
RuneScape has been going for 25 years, and its maker Jagex already keeps more than one version of it alive. On Saturday it showed the first glimpse of another. "RuneScape - Official 4th MMO Teaser Trailer" introduces a new RuneScape MMO with no name yet, built in Unreal Engine. The description pitches it at a new generation of players while promising to keep the freedom and community spirit the series is known for.
The number four makes sense to longtime players. RuneScape Classic opened in 2001, the main game grew into the version many call RuneScape 3, and Old School RuneScape brought back an older form of the game in 2013.
GameTrailers, IGN's channel for trailers, posted two RuneScape videos that day. The other, for RuneScape Reignited, is a relaunch of the existing game set for December 2, with a fresh economy and new hiscores. It drew only a fraction of the teaser's audience. The teaser passed 65,000 views in its first eight hours, far beyond a usual start on the channel. It also gathered more than 180 comments, where the channel's short trailers usually collect a handful in a full day.
Most of those comments are about what the teaser doesn't show yet. Many viewers say they will hold back until there is real gameplay. Others notice the art, which several think looks borrowed from RuneScape: Dragonwilds, Jagex's survival game. Some are pleased that the cities finally look like cities, and one remembers how few houses Varrock used to have. A few have started wishlists already: modern versions of bosses from both games, a brand-new world with no carried-over accounts, and a release on consoles.

What viewers say
I played the original Runescape for years, tried so many MMORPGs but would still come back to Runescape. Something about it, the music, sounds, work felt rewarding too.
@Macky4941See it on YouTubeLooks ambitious, I like how they addressed the small scale of the cities (varrock having a total of 14 houses)
@illuminaticat4861See it on YouTubeHm... cautiously excited.
