Gears of War: E-Day gets a recommend from Skill Up, and WoW Forever a warning

Austin's World of Warcraft: Forever video, titled 'extremely dangerous (complimentary)', passed 750,000 views, and its comments filled up with people negotiating with their own free time.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Skill Up's verdict on Gears of War: E-Day is in, and it comes in the channel's plainest format: "I recommend." The description calls the game The Coalition betting on old-fashioned Gears gameplay and top-tier presentation, and says the bet pays off. Fourteen hours after it went up, the review had passed 230,000 views, and it is moving faster than anything else on the channel right now.

The week's biggest crowd, though, gathered around a different Blizzard-era memory. "'World of Warcraft: Forever' is extremely dangerous (complimentary)" opens its description with a sigh, "I'm thinkin' I'm back," and has passed three quarters of a million views. The comments read like a support group with a sense of humor: partners who come home to find a screen full of Azeroth, brothers now in their late thirties planning to raid together again from cities apart, one viewer who wants controller support for tired wrists. Many also correct a detail about which edition actually grants beta access, and one notes that this is where the Dawnwalker review went.

Around those two sat the usual furniture: This Week in Videogames on Naughty Dog's new Last of Us projects and the first round of E-Day reviews, and episode 105 of the Friends Per Second podcast with Jake Baldino and Lucy James, asking whether Activision can save Halo and making room for Ace Combat 8 and Control Resonant.

The channel gained about 2.5 million views over the seven days, second among the gaming news and review channels nearest its size, behind only Dobbs. YongYea is also running well above its usual pace, while HaloFollower is having a quieter stretch.
