An Android in Game Boy Advance clothes: Wulff Den's KONKR Pocket Advance

The AYANEO-made handheld got Bob Wulff's one upload of the week, and its comment section is mostly talking about the sponsor skit.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

NOT a Game Boy Advance.NOT a Game Boy Advance.

Bob Wulff looked at something shaped like a Game Boy Advance and told everyone up front what it is not. "NOT a Game Boy Advance." is his review of the KONKR Pocket Advance, a handheld made by AYANEO that runs Android underneath its familiar silhouette, and it was the only video Wulff Den posted over the seven days. It drew close to 95,000 views in its first day.

The review itself has its fans, with viewers trading notes on emulator settings and on whether they would rather play their old cartridges on something else. The single most liked comment is a joke: it counts how many times Bob has now shown the class a handheld that is not a Game Boy Advance. But much of the talk is about the ad break, a skit apparently set in a Google HQ cafeteria, complete with screaming and a climb over a counter. Several viewers say his are the only sponsor segments they never skip, and a few want the cafeteria back as a running bit.

The new review is not the busiest video on the channel, though. "Yeah these are just Mini Steam Decks now…", ten days old, still picks up a little more each day. It walks through putting Steam on Android handhelds with ArmadaOS, now that Steam runs on ARM, and has passed 730,000 views.

The channel moved more slowly than usual, at roughly two thirds of its typical daily views, and added about a thousand subscribers to sit at 988,000, with a million in sight. Among similar tech channels it landed in the middle for views gained, while Digital Doctor had by far the biggest week and Hugh Jeffreys ran well above his usual pace.
