A Galaxy Fold veteran's one worry about the iPhone Duo

Fernando spent time with Samsung's Fold 7 and Fold 8 and found he rarely opened them, a lesson he now wants to test on Apple's first folding iPhone.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

981,000 subscribers, and the 9to5Mac channel spent its week waiting for a phone nobody can hold yet. The iPhone Duo arrives on October 23, and two of the seven new uploads were about it.

The one viewers keep watching is Fernando Silva's "I Want to Love the iPhone Duo. Here's My One Concern..." He calls it the most excited he has been about an iPhone in years, and he has the background for it: he used Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Fold 8. His worry comes from that experience. He loved opening the Fold 8, but he did it far less often than he expected, so he wonders whether the Duo's outer screen will end up doing most of the work. He also ties the launch to John Ternus taking over as Apple's CEO, a new shape of iPhone for a new chapter.

The comments read like a waiting room. Samsung fold owners welcome Apple users to the club. Others say a slim case or a screen protector has already arrived, and one hopes Screen Time will separate inner-screen use from outer. Several plan to retire an iPad mini.

The Duo video sits behind the newest arrival, though. Thursday's "macOS 27 Golden Gate review: MUCH better than Tahoe" is drawing more each day. A Monday companion piece follows the code-sleuthing we reported here, five hidden StandBy faces and hints of Apple's homeOS. On the Overtime podcast, Jeff Benjamin and Fernando weigh the iPhone 18 Pro's camera against the Duo.

The channel as a whole is running at about half its usual daily pace, which is common after Apple's September rush. Among similar tech channels, Digital Doctor had by far the biggest week, Hugh Jeffreys ran well above his usual, and 9to5Mac landed in the middle.
