A battery health app for Android, built by Hugh Jeffreys himself

The week's single upload is a piece of software rather than a repair, recorded in a voice many viewers barely recognized.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Hugh Jeffreys usually brings dead hardware back to life. His one video of the week is something he made from scratch: "How I Brought Battery Health to Android." It shows how he built a battery health check for Android phones, the kind of readout iPhone owners already get in their settings. He put it into iTest, his own app for checking hardware and device specifications. The video drew about 62,000 views on its first day.

The comments split into two threads. One is about Hugh himself. He sounds noticeably hoarse, the video arrived later than his usual Sunday slot, and many viewers wish him a quick recovery. The other is a question asked again and again: how is this different from AccuBattery, the free Android app that many say they have used for years? A few viewers have already installed the new app, one of them on an older Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The new video was not the only one drawing a crowd. "This Tablet Came From A Prison - They Tried So Hard To Lock It Down." is fifteen weeks old and past 1.2 million views, and it still pulls in close to as many viewers each day as the new upload. Further back, a $10 e-waste Lenovo with a Core i7 keeps adding views slowly.

Across the whole channel, daily views are running at well over double their usual pace, and the subscriber count sits right at one million. Among similar tech channels it was a modest week by total views gained. Digital Doctor's repair counter was far ahead of everyone, while Big Clive and WULFF DEN kept a steadier, quieter pace.
