Iron Maiden and Megadeth at Mystic Lake get a brutally honest review
Tony's one upload of the week took him to the Shakopee amphitheater, and the comments filled with readers' own memories of Maiden tours going back to Piece of Mind.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Brutally Honest Concert Review: IRON MAIDEN/MEGADETH! (Mystic Lake Amphitheater Shakopee, MN)
The-Art-of-Guitar usually lives on lessons: how to play a riff, why a song is harder than it looks, which picking pattern you have been getting wrong. This week the channel stepped out from behind the fretboard and into a concert crowd, with a single upload, "Brutally Honest Concert Review: IRON MAIDEN/MEGADETH! (Mystic Lake Amphitheater Shakopee, MN)."
It started well, with more than 80,000 views on its first day, and four days in it has passed 125,000. The tags slip in a nickname for the double bill, "maidendeth," and Eddie, Maiden's long-serving mascot, gets a mention too.
The comment section has turned into a swap meet of concert stories. People who saw the same tour in Charlotte describe standing in the rain until it stopped just before "Rime of the Ancient Mariner." Others write in from San Antonio, where the show had played the night before, and a few are amused that the video landed right after their own night out. Older fans go back to the Powerslave and Piece of Mind tours and the ticket prices of the 1980s, and a few share small favorite moments: Dave Murray's tone, Bruce Dickinson's scream on "Infinite Dreams." The price of a tour T-shirt comes up more than once.
Behind the review, the older lessons keep turning over. A student's surprise at how tricky a Pink Floyd song from The Wall really is still draws a steady crowd, and so does the claim that most of us have been playing the Crazy Train riff wrong.
With one upload instead of a fuller week, daily views sat below the channel's usual pace, and subscribers edged up by about a thousand, toward the million mark. Among the lesson channels closest in size, Colby Fulton Drums and EMIL VERGO are the ones having big weeks.

What viewers say
Saw this tour in Charlotte NC, we got soaked, no one left, it was awesome, it stopped raining right before Iron Maiden played Rine of the Ancient Mariner, kind of ironic.
