Hermes Agent tidies a messy folder of invoices for Teacher's Tech

Jamie's walkthrough of the free, open source AI agent that works on your own files has passed 50,000 views in under four weeks.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

No new uploads from Jamie, and the channel is running on its late-summer AI tutorials. The busiest of them is the youngest, "How to Set Up Hermes Agent on Your Computer (Desktop App)," posted 27 days ago and now past 50,000 views.

Hermes Agent comes from Nous Research, the open source AI lab, and the pitch in Jamie's description is the difference between an agent and a chatbot: it reads and changes your real files, remembers how you like things done, and can save a learned task as a reusable skill. The video puts that to work on a cluttered folder of invoices, photos and drafts, then builds a one-page website out of what was already sitting on the desktop. There is a chapter on safety settings before any of that, and one near the end about the catch of running everything locally.

Right behind it is a Google Flow walkthrough that goes from a blank prompt to a 30-second ad, with Nano Banana 2 handling image edits. It is the most watched of the three, past 90,000 views. Third comes an Ollama tutorial built around an imaginary coffee roasting business, pitched at readers whose school or office blocks cloud AI for privacy reasons.

The channel's daily views sit a little below their usual level, and subscribers held at 1.19 million. Among similar tech channels, Android had a very big week and Tina Huang's views ran well above her norm, while the Windows channel, almost exactly Teacher's Tech's size, moved at a similarly gentle pace. For a teacher who writes chapters titled "Pick one job this week," a week off still left three lessons doing the teaching.
