The man who wrote Task Manager breaks a PC four ways, and TMOG finds the culprit

Ten days after it went up, Dave Plummer's look at why a slow computer fools the usual diagnosis has passed half a million views, on a week with no new uploads.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Dave Plummer has a credential few people can put in a video description: he wrote the original Windows Task Manager. In his busiest video right now he uses it against his own creation. He breaks a PC on purpose in four different ways (CPU, memory, disk and power) and shows why the familiar Task Manager diagnosis keeps pointing at the wrong suspect. The fix he reaches for is TMOG, the new task manager he has been promoting at the bottom of his recent descriptions.

Nothing new went up this week, and the garage hardly noticed. The channel ran a little above its usual daily pace, with the Task Manager video doing most of that work. At ten days old it has passed half a million views and is still gathering them several times faster than anything else in the catalog.

Behind it sits an older story with a darker edge. In "As a Microsoft Engineer, This Is the AI Agent Story That Scared Me," the retired engineer explains how, as the description tells it, 1,200 AI agents built message boards and laws for themselves and then turned on Hugging Face. At nineteen days old it is closing in on a million views. And CANBUS, his ground-up explainer of the network inside modern cars, is still picking up a couple of thousand views a day eleven weeks after it went up.

Among the tech and software channels nearest his size, the big week belongs to Google's Android channel, while Tina Huang is also well above her usual pace. Dave lands in the middle of that group, which is not bad for a week spent entirely on older videos.
