Brick, Sue and a wall to repair: The Middle carries 唐司令说电影 past 14 million views

On a usual day, the edits channel 唐司令说电影 draws around a million and a quarter views. Lately it has been running at more than twice that. Most of the credit goes to one sitcom: The Middle, ABC's long-running comedy about the Heck family of small-town Indiana, and above all its youngest son, Brick.
The channel's about text says it makes edits of popular movies and series in After Effects. This week it put out seven shorts, and its top six run like a highlights reel of the Heck house. Brick gets blamed for "A Strange Smell in The House," a magic trick of his makes the TV remote disappear, and he and Sue set about patching a wall. Elsewhere there is a game of spin the bottle, a field trip where nobody comes to pick a kid up, and a sibling laying down the law: don't eat my food, don't use my stuff.
The smell short is the week's biggest by far, past two million views. Under it, viewers keep quoting one line, a single word, "text," delivered at the 49-second mark, and many treat it as unexpected wisdom. Others are busy comparing the show to Malcolm in the Middle. The wall repair is the newest of the bunch, and within its first day it was already gathering views faster than any of the others.
Among movie and TV clip channels of a similar size, no one added more views this week. Tina Kelch also had a big stretch, roughly double her usual pace. Amanda the Jedi and Patrick (H) Willems had calmer weeks, more in line with how slowly long-form essays tend to build.
