"WE ALL BACKED THE MCLAREN.. AND THEN THIS HAPPENED" is the one new video of the week on OFFICIALLY GASSED, Jamie's channel of modified cars, drag races and his own builds. The setup is the kind his OG Battles are built on: a modern McLaren 720S against a classic Mini. The Mini is 45 years old, and the description says it is no standard one. It has a turbocharged Honda engine, a K20 according to the tags, and it sends the power to the rear wheels.
They run it as a drag race, a roll race and a quarter mile, and the description admits the crew tried to stitch the little car up along the way. The title already tells you whose side everyone was on at the start.
The comments are about one man: the Mini's driver, whom viewers call Marty. They keep pointing out that he never missed a shift on an H-pattern gearbox and kept making clean runs back to back while nearly out of fuel. A few readers also took the edit to task, insisting the car is rear-wheel drive, and the finish-line judge's eyesight has become a running joke. One commenter treats a Sunday without OG Battles as no Sunday at all.
The video passed 370,000 views in its first week. Older battles are still carrying a share of the traffic: the three-week-old "NISSAN vs TOYOTA - THE ARGUMENT ENDS HERE.", which puts the Mk4 Supra against the R34 and the Mk5 against the R35 GT-R, is closing in on a million. "EVERY TIME THE SUPER CAR WINS.. WE UPGRADE THE SUV." keeps the same McLaren busy too, this time against six SUVs that end with an 1,800BHP BMW X3 M.
With only one upload, the channel ran a little slower than usual, though it still added around ten thousand subscribers. That is about the same as Mark McCann, who sits at the same size. Among similar car channels it gathered the third most views of the week, while Sonya Temnikova's garage was far busier than anyone else's.
