Video taking off 20x its usual first day

A Corvette that sounds like a BMW? The comments on QUIET SRT's 'I can't wait to get my corvette back'

Viewers spent the short's first hours arguing over its soundtrack, on a Saturday when the channel's Hellcat and 'keeping it stock' clips also started fast.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 155,156 views a day, 20 times a normal first day on this channel (7,879).

I can’t wait to get my corvette backI can’t wait to get my corvette back

"I can’t wait to get my corvette back" puts its whole premise in the title: someone is missing a Corvette. The short went up on QUIET SRT, a channel built on Hellcats, Trackhawks and Shelbys, and passed 137,000 views in its first 18 hours. A new upload there usually ends a full day far below that.

The comments care less about the longing than about the noise. Many viewers ask whether the audio is the car's own, and a few answer plainly that it is not. Several try to name what they hear. Some say a BMW M3 of the E92 generation, the one with a V8. Others say a Ford Coyote. The running joke is the gap between ear and eye: an engine that revs and downshifts while the Corvette on screen holds the same pace. At least one viewer admits it took a while to work out which car was carrying the camera. And a few simply sympathize, because their own cars are at the dealership or in the shop too.

The Corvette was not the channel's only fast start that Saturday. "Real or Fake Hellcat?" and "“Yeah I’m keeping it stock”" also ran well past a usual first day, though some way behind it. The week brought QUIET SRT about 7,000 new subscribers, and the channel now has 160,000.

The next morning, it had another Corvette up: a 1000HP cold start.

  • it took me way too long to realize that was the camera car and not the corvette. I was wondering why the corvette wasn't moving any faster.
