Dark Arisen gives Dragon's Dogma 2 a second look from Mortismal Gaming
Mortym's review of the expansion, billed as a major revamp of a game that launched underwhelming, went up hours ago and is already past 70,000 views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen DLC Review
Six hours old, and the Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen DLC review is already the fastest-moving thing on Mortismal Gaming. The description frames the expansion as Capcom going to significant lengths to fix a game that disappointed at launch, and the chapters walk through the early patches, Lost Rites and a long stretch in the Forsaken Dominion of Norgan. The name carries history: Dark Arisen was also the title of the expanded edition of the first Dragon's Dogma in 2013.
It capped a full week of seven uploads. The most watched was the Steam Autumn Sale highlights, a tour from 007 First Light to Rogue Trader, now past 220,000 views. Its comments read like shopping receipts, with viewers trading their own finds, from Death's Door to Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Some wrote about the dragon and chicken they were glad to see return. Mortym himself turns up near the top with a correction: Tainted Grail costs 22.50, not the 2.50 he said aloud. Several people say the video reminds them of TotalBiscuit's old sale roundups.
The rest of the week shows his range: a Control Resonant review after full completion, Fists of Fury for Tainted Grail, and "Check Out" looks at Guns of Eschaton, Elta and Olympus 2249, a post-apocalyptic RPG that grew out of a Fallout 2 mod.
The channel is running below its usual daily pace, and subscribers held at 492,000. Even so, among the gaming review channels near its size, only Retro Jakes, with a very big week, gathered more views.
