Gears of War E-Day Refunds Skyrocket & XBOX Panics as Players Walk Away
"Gears of War E-Day Refunds Skyrocket & XBOX Panics as Players Walk Away" is the newest upload on ENDYMIONtv, and it is the fourth of the week aimed at the same game. The channel calls itself commentary from the mind of a cynical man, and Gears of War: E-Day gave him plenty to be cynical about. The refunds and the panic are his framing. Within about half a day the video was already the busiest thing on the channel.
The run started on October 3 with "Gears of War E-Day is a Wolverine-Sized Disaster," which remains the most watched of the five new uploads. Two days later came "Gears of War E-Day is a Modern Audience Disaster." The odd one out, "This Could Destroy Stop Killing Games Forever," went back to the campaign for game preservation, and "AAA Gaming Has Become a Humiliation Ritual" opened the week in the same mood as everything that followed.
Under the Wolverine video, the comments read like a running workshop on new slang, with "Wolverined" offered as a verb for a big release gone wrong. Others pick at the story beat by beat, from a squad that defies orders after promising to follow them to a flare lit while everyone is told to keep quiet. A few have already moved on and suggest Space Marine 2 as the shooter to play instead.
Taken together, the week came to well over two million views, more than any of the gaming commentary channels around ENDYMIONtv in size gained. The one other channel in that group running at its normal pace, Maka91Productions, was also busy with E-Day, mapping its collectibles act by act. Day to day, ENDYMIONtv is still below its own usual level, and subscribers edged up by about a thousand to 422,000. The refunds video is the one doing the climbing.
