Champions, chaos and Laguna Seca: INDYCAR's 'ALL IN' reaches its finale
FOX's season-long docuseries signs off with Alex Palou's fifth title, a scramble for second place and a first look at the cars of the next era.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 280,272 views a day, 27 times a normal day (10,248).
FOX has closed the book on ALL IN, its behind-the-scenes series on the INDYCAR season. The last chapter, "ALL IN Finale: Champions, Chaos & A New Era," went up on October 1 and has passed a quarter of a million views in three days. That is a lot for a channel where an ordinary day brings in around ten thousand.
The finale runs from the Freedom 250 to Monterey, the stretch that settled the championship. Its companion piece, Episode 12, "The Future Starts Now: The Battle for No. 2," lays out how that ended. Its description has Alex Palou taking a fifth title in what he calls a season of "magic," and four drivers arriving at the final round separated by a handful of points in the fight for second. Kyle Kirkwood took that spot and Christian Lundgaard finished third. The description also marks the end of Scott Dixon's long run with Chip Ganassi Racing. Monterey's round is run at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the hilly California circuit that has long hosted the series' closing weekends. That episode, from mid-September, has gone beyond half a million views, the most of anything recent on the channel.
The "new era" in the finale's title is literal. In September the channel posted a short of the IR-28, the next-generation car, turning its first laps on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval.
The shorts around the series have stayed in the low thousands. The long episodes are what bring people to this channel, and its season now ends where the drivers' does.
