A Blink doorbell, unboxed with a subscriber, keeps Hobby Explorer ringing
The hundred-day-old unboxing has passed 199,000 views, and a dumbbell buying guide with a recall warning sits close behind.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Doorbell Unboxing Chaos
What does a strength coach's channel lean on when nothing new goes up? On Hobby Explorer, oddly, a doorbell.
The man behind the channel says he quit a tech job to teach strength training to "normal looking people" like himself, and he is a certified personal trainer. Yet his busiest video right now is "Doorbell Unboxing Chaos," posted a hundred days ago, in which he opens an Amazon Blink camera doorbell with a fellow subscriber. The tags place it in his Bay Area home and in the Tamil-speaking community he talks to across the USA, Canada and Chennai. It has passed 199,000 views and still adds a few hundred a day.
The gym side is right behind. "Adjustable Dumbbells" is a short buying guide for anyone whose weights have started to feel light from progressive overload. He names the Nuobell set he uses, mentions REP and IronMaster, and points out that Bowflex was previously recalled. Third comes a call for guests for the Hobby Explorer Podcast, open to anyone with a journey, career or hobby worth telling.
No uploads went up over the seven days, and the channel ran a touch above its usual daily pace anyway. Among the podcast channels nearest its size it is fourth by subscribers, at 1.1 million. The loud week in that group belonged to Stiff Socks Podcast, while Club 520 Podcast also ran well above its norm.

Progressive overload, the idea behind the dumbbell video, is often illustrated by the legend of which ancient Greek wrestler who carried a growing calf every day?
Legend says Milo lifted a newborn calf daily until it was a full-grown bull, the classic picture of gradually adding load.
