A new short on Theo Rogan Shorts usually ends its first day somewhere around 115,000 views. "Mamdani Wasn’t Ready For Theo Von 😂" passed a million in about a day and kept going.

The clip comes from Theo Von's podcast, This Past Weekend, and his conversation with Zohran Mamdani, who was elected mayor of New York City in 2025. Theo Rogan Shorts did not record it. It is a clips channel, and its about text describes the job: digging through full episodes of Rogan and Von, then tightening each moment and adding captions for people who will never sit through three hours.

This moment, as viewers describe it, is a trap. Theo gets his guest to repeat a word after him, a fish name, and the punchline arrives only once Mamdani has said it. The most liked reply turns the whole thing into advice: never repeat after Theo. Others keep returning to the straight face Theo wears while telling the mayor that he is not running against him, and to someone in the room noting that this is not the clip anyone needed out there. The comments came in about eight times faster than on a usual first day.

The channel cut more than one piece from the episode. "Theo Von Got Sidetracked 😂" went up the same day and sits in the tens of thousands, beside new shorts with Pauly Shore, Josh Wolf and Cristina Mariani. Across all its videos, the channel is drawing more than twice its usual daily views, and it added about 10,000 subscribers in a week.
