Joby Walters, Laughlin 2002 and a Hells Angels exit on The Connect

The former enforcer's two-hour interview runs from meeting Sonny Barger to years hiding in Mexico, one of nine uploads that also included a Cuban cigar smuggler.

Nine uploads, two long talks. Johnny Mitchell's channel, which bills itself as interviews from the underworld, spent the week with men who ran from the law and lived to describe it.

The first was Joby Walters, a former Hells Angel who, by the description's account, joined the club at nearly 50. Over two hours he tells of meeting Sonny Barger, earning his patch in Arizona, and the 2002 brawl with the Mongols at Harrah's in Laughlin, Nevada, where he lost one of his closest friends. The chapters also reach the ATF's undercover operation led by agent Jay Dobyns, a staged murder meant to win the club's trust, and Walters' years in Mexico under another name before he walked away and found faith.

Scott Anthony followed, a Chicago trafficker who spent a decade as a fugitive in Mexico and then, the description says, turned to smuggling Cuban cigars, with Michael Jordan among his customers.

The short cuts did the bigger numbers. "POV: You Sold to an Undercover Cop" passed 300,000 views, and its comment section became a swap meet of viewers' own stories about sheltering someone running from the police. Older material is carrying the channel, though: "All Prisoners MUST Shave Their Head," ten days old, is close to two and a half million, and a day-old short about Diddy paying a songwriter $10,000 is moving almost as fast.

Overall it was a softer stretch, with daily views running at roughly half the channel's usual level. Among podcast and interview channels of its size, Stiff Socks, Dwarkesh Patel and ALL THE SMOKE are all having lively weeks.
