Where to skip the tip: Vivian Tu's Your Rich BFF short starts a confession booth
A short list of no-tip places opened at nearly twelve times the channel's usual pace, and its comment section filled with drive-throughs, liquor stores and car washes holding out a screen.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 81,980 views a day, 12 times a normal first day on this channel (7,079).

Where can you leave the tip line blank without guilt? Vivian Tu's newest short on Your Rich BFF promises an answer in its title, and fifteen hours after it went up it had nearly 65,000 views. That puts it on course for close to twelve times what a new short on the channel usually draws in a full first day, on a day when the channel as a whole ran below its usual pace.
The short did not arrive alone. Tu, the former Wall Street trader behind the channel and its Networth and Chill podcast, spent Wednesday's episode on how tipping spread across America. The episode traces it from Pullman railcars to the 1966 tip credit and a $2.13 sub-minimum wage, and it has a chapter on no-tip zones. The new short carries the podcast's hashtag. It has already passed the full episode and its own teaser, and it is closing in on the voter-registration short posted four days earlier.
The comments are where it really took off. Even before its first day was over, the short had drawn many times more comments than a usual short collects in a whole day, and most of them read like small confessions. One viewer canceled an online order when it asked for a hefty tip. Others list a liquor store, a car wash and coffee drive-throughs asking for a little extra. Former servers say takeout was never expected to come with a tip, and a psychologist explains why therapists should never be tipped at all. Plenty of viewers want the same treatment for hair salons and brow appointments.

What viewers say
My brother (who is a server) has a rule of thumb I like: If you're both standing when the order is taken, you don't have to tip.
@steveo.111See it on YouTubeI bought something online and they wanted a tip of 30% of the order.
