A CEO quiz, SpaceX and a 2008 mortgage: Dan Toomey's Good Work
One new upload put a stranger's business knowledge to the test, while a two-week-old SpaceX investigation with a real astronaut passed 1.6 million views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
testing this guy's CEO knowledge
"testing this guy's CEO knowledge" was the only new video on Good Work, the Morning Brew channel fronted by Dan Toomey, and it did what a single upload should: more than 200,000 views in its first day, and it is the channel's busiest video right now.
It has company, though, and not by much of a margin. "What does SpaceX actually do?", posted two weeks ago, sets Toomey off on an investigation into a company that, the description jokes, does both space and whatever X is. He brought in a real crew for it: Micah Maidenberg, who covers space for the Wall Street Journal, Eric Berger of Ars Technica, the astronaut Mike Mullane and an anonymous SpaceX employee. Just behind it sits "Unboxing a 2008 mortgage," whose entire description reads "Belongs in a museum," which for a souvenir of the financial crisis is about right.
The channel as a whole is running quieter than usual, with daily views well under its normal level and the subscriber count holding still. Among the business channels near its size, The Iced Coffee Hour, just below it in subscribers, is having a busy stretch, as are Forbes and CNBC Make It, while Patrick Boyle and CNBC International are in quieter weeks like this one.
