A 6010 root pass and a keyhole that WeldTube's viewers can read at a glance

Milestones are hard to find this week, but a classic is easy to spot. WeldTube's biggest new upload is the plainest kind of welding clip: a 6010 root pass, a few seconds of rod and puddle, and nothing else. It has passed 160,000 views since September 29.
The people watching clearly know the rod. The most liked comments read the bead like a test plate, pointing to a good keyhole, a welder dropping back to catch the puddle before it falls through, and a smooth layer of flux. Some offer a quieter warning that a hole that size could mean too much penetration, depending on the procedure. One veteran says he never managed 6010 on an eighth-inch gap. Another, perhaps a little unfairly, swears the rod has been burning for ten minutes.
The short moving fastest right now is newer: a stainless stick weld whose slag peels off in one clean strip, a small pleasure any stick welder will recognize. A laser cleaning clip, posted on Monday, picks up the thread from the laser welding video we covered here a few days ago. The other two uploads were product spots for the brand's lenses and hoods.
Across the whole channel, views ran at less than half their usual daily pace, and few new subscribers came in. Many of the DIY and building channels near WeldTube's size also had a slower week. The exception is Fab Rats, a fellow metal shop, which pulled far more views than usual.
