Video taking off 6.4x its usual first day

A UV light, a sprayed remote and Kate_cleanhome's high-touch cleaning short

Viewers are less interested in the shine than in the gadget: what the water is for, how long UV light really needs, and where to buy one.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 37,233 views a day, 6.4 times a normal first day on this channel (5,792).

Keeping all the high-touch things around the house clean and sanitized! ✨#cleaninghacks #homehacksKeeping all the high-touch things around the house clean and sanitized! ✨#cleaninghacks #homehacks

Which things in a house get touched the most, and how do you keep them clean? Kate_cleanhome's newest short sets out to answer that, and it has drawn far more people than her shorts usually do.

The title promises to keep "all the high-touch things around the house clean and sanitized." Going by the comments, the job runs through a gadget that pairs water with an ultraviolet light, plus a spray aimed straight at a TV remote. One viewer winced on the remote's behalf.

About thirty hours after it went up, the short had passed 46,000 views. A new short on her channel usually ends its first day below 6,000. The comment section stayed its usual size, but it is full of questions. One viewer asks why the water is there at all if the light does the sanitizing. Another points out that UV light needs far longer on a surface than a quick pass to kill anything. Others just want to know where to buy one, and at least one person found it already out of stock. Someone else joked that the sweep looks like a search for hidden CIA bugs.

Kate bills her channel as home and lifestyle and lists a TikTok following of a million. Here she mostly posts short, cheerful routines: in the days before this one, fall finds at Trader Joe's and Halloween treat bags. Her channel draws around a million views on an ordinary day, far more than her new uploads bring in on their own, so a fresh short that starts this fast is the exception. The other recent standout came from the kitchen, not the cleaning cupboard: her copycat of the Starbucks Medicine Ball, a sick-day mix of hot lemonade, peppermint tea, peach tea and honey, has passed 140,000 views.
