A stuck parking exit, a help button and Studio C's most hopeless driver
Viewers have filled the comments with his best lines and with comparisons to Mr. Bean and the Three Stooges, and one asks for a whole series about him.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 359,247 views a day, 18 times a normal first day on this channel (19,607).
he might be the better driver
Not a typical short. Studio C's "he might be the better driver" passed about half a million views in little more than a day. The BYUtv sketch show's shorts usually start with around twenty thousand on their first day.
The title gives little away, but the comments fill in the scene. A driver is stuck at a parking exit, talking to someone over the gate's help button, and every answer he gives makes things worse. Viewers keep repeating his lines: his wish to get home to his wet laundry, his worry that he has the wrong flavor of something, a sticky note he offers in place of insurance details, and a polite thank-you just before he drives through the barrier. At one point he and his car seem to appear at a different exit, which one viewer says would make them stop answering altogether.
The comment section moved far faster than usual for the channel. The comparisons people reach for are old ones: Mr. Bean, all three Stooges rolled into one man, and a style several call old school. One viewer says they once sat at the other end of a help button like this and that real drivers act exactly this way. Another asks for a small series about the character. The video does not say who plays him.
Studio C has been on the air since 2012 and is still best known for Scott Sterling, the soccer goalkeeper who stops shots with his face. The same few days also brought a short called "forcing will forte to improv" and a new sketch, written by Samuel Palmer, in which Matt Meese hands out stacks of $8,000 bills to get witnesses talking.
