A rusty Proto wrench, bought on the road to IMTS, gets Abom79's blue

Adam Booth and Abby picked it up at antique stores on the way to Chicago's big machine tool show, and the trip got its own recap too.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Adam Booth came home from Chicago with more than trade show impressions. On the drive to IMTS 2026, he and Abby stopped at antique stores, and among the finds were a couple of adjustable wrenches. One of them, a 16-inch Proto, was sound but badly rusted, and it became the week's second video.

"Proro Wrench Restoration" (the typo is the title's own) follows the wrench through an Evapo-Rust soak and then a couple of coats of Brownell's Oxpho-Blue, the cold bluing better known among gunsmiths. It is a small job by the standards of a third-generation job shop, yet within its first six hours it was picking up views faster than anything else on the channel.

The trip itself came first. "IMTS 2026 Visit" recaps the week at the International Manufacturing Technology Show, with meet-and-greets at the Milltronics, Master Fluid Solutions and Kaeser booths. It has passed 30,000 views, and the comment section reads like a postcard rack: greetings from Sydney and Normandy, a viewer who met the couple there, and several people who noticed how well they ate. The machine everyone asks about is a Starrett indicator, and more than one viewer wants to know where it is made.

The channel as a whole ran slower than usual, and its subscriber count held steady at 568,000. Among DIY and building channels of similar size, Kate_cleanhome and Eric Wang carried the biggest crowds, while Andrew Thron was running ahead of his usual pace. Abom79 sits in the middle of that group for views gained, with a road trip and an old wrench doing the work.
