A dragon to identify, and 5 million views for Um, Actually
The Dropout trivia show posted nothing new, and a four-month-old short asking viewers to name a dragon passed five million views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Can You Identify This Dragon?
Um, Actually sits in the middle of a mixed group of game and reality show channels: Bar Rescue and Canada's Got Talent are holding their usual pace, Food Club is well above its own, and AdvntrNest dwarfs everyone despite cooling off. The Dropout trivia show, hosted by Ify Nwadiwe with Brian David Gilbert checking every correction, landed fourth of nine for views gained over the seven days.
It got there without a single new upload. The work is being done by "Can You Identify This Dragon?", a short posted about four months ago that has now gone past five million views and is still adding more than 15,000 a day. That is a long tail for a clip built on one question, and nothing else on the channel comes close: the next busiest shorts, on what Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is based on and which race you can't play in World of Darkness, are each drawing around a hundred views a day.
The pause shows in the overall pace. Daily views are running at a little over half the channel's usual rate, and the subscriber count held steady at 601,000. For a show whose whole premise is catching a small mistake in someone's favorite fiction, a dragon short still pulling crowds this long after it went up seems fitting.
