Jeans in heavy surf, and Bondi's Flat Rock, on Real Life Rescue

A clip about swimmers who went in fully dressed matched the pace of a 16-day-old Bondi confrontation compilation within ten hours of going up.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Ten hours old, and "Jeans and shirts do not mix well with the heavy surf 🏄" was already gathering views as quickly as anything on Real Life Rescue. The title tells you the whole lesson: denim gets heavy fast when the waves are big.

Real Life Rescue is a clips channel. It cuts licensed footage from rescue and first responder series into short stories, and Bondi Rescue, the long-running Australian show about the lifeguards of Sydney's busiest beach, supplies most of it. The other new Bondi upload, "Bondi Beach’s Most Infamous Hazard: Flat Rock", comes from the show's 2014 season and visits the rock shelf that lifeguards keep a close eye on. The week's third clip went across the Tasman. "Divers Caught DITCHING Massive Illegal Catch!" comes from CoastWatch, the 2008 New Zealand series about fishery officers chasing poachers, and it opened modestly.

The clip with the most staying power is ""Delete It Now!" | Bondi Lifeguards' Most Heated Confrontations", a compilation that has passed 600,000 views in a little over two weeks. The new jeans clip has caught up with its daily pace already.

The channel's views ran a little above their usual level, with just over a million in seven days, and the subscriber count held steady. Among the TV-flavored channels nearby, Food Club and Emmerdale had brisk weeks. Um, Actually and EastEnders were quieter than usual. Real Life Rescue sits in the middle of that group, and Bondi's lifeguards are still doing most of its work.
