The Evolution of Jake (Part 2) | The Chi
Jake gets the spotlight. The official channel for The Chi posted two clips, and both belong to Jake Taylor, the youngest of the show's original South Side boys, played by Michael V. Epps across all eight seasons.
The bigger of the two is "The Evolution of Jake (Part 2)", a run of pivotal moments from the later half of his story. It opened with about 12,000 views on its first day, and it is now the channel's busiest video by a wide margin, gathering several times the daily views of anything else. The other upload, a short clip about a houseguest Jake would rather not have, drew a much smaller crowd.
The comment section reads like a reunion. Viewers single out Jake settling down with Desiree as the moment he grew up, and several bring up the old joke about how often he went after Kevin's crushes. One longer comment argues that Jake faded in the last two seasons, mostly appearing beside Vic or Reg, while still praising Epps. Others simply say they miss the show and its kids.
Behind the new clips, a September compilation of the show's most intense Season 5 confrontations keeps drawing a steady trickle.
Overall the channel ran a little below its usual pace, adding around 1,000 subscribers. Among TV and streaming channels near its size, Law & Order, Foxtel and ABC Australia had the busy weeks, and RedGreenTV nearly doubled its usual daily views; The Chi sat in the quieter half of the group, with a nostalgic week built around one character.
