Bluefish at Martha's Vineyard Smokehouse: Tackle2thePeople defends a hated fish

Five uploads ran from a Dim Sum tank of tautog to a surprise bigeye, and the tuna trip's comments are stuck on an unfinished story about Wally's Wieners.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Five uploads, all fish. Tackle2thePeople spent the week on the New England species people either adore or avoid, and the newest one went straight at the most avoided.

"Trash Fish or Delicacy? Testing the Internet's Most Hated Fish" takes bluefish to Martha's Vineyard Smokehouse, where Gus and chef Nathan Gould run their own boats and smoke the catch fast. The description makes the case plainly: bluefish is oily and muscular, so it has to be bled and iced right away, or it turns irony and pungent. Treated well, it is apparently one of the smokehouse's best sellers. Barely half a day old, it is already the channel's quickest mover.

Earlier in the week came tautog, a cold-water fish the description says fishermen and many Chinese and Cambodian anglers prize, ordered live from a Dim Sum tank and then steamed at home. A video promising a fish with human teeth went up the same day.

The crowd, though, gathered around "Tuna when we LEAST expected…", the week's most watched upload. It has a bigeye on deck, and viewers keep repeating one line of deadpan logic about how you can tell it is a bigeye. Even more of them want the end of a story about Wally's Wieners in Newport that the clip cuts off.

Across the channel the pace ran well above usual, and among outdoors and fishing channels of similar size, none gained more views this week; thruhikers came closest.
