An urban thruhike? Renee and Tim take the long walk into town
The couple behind thruhikers, who have walked from Mexico to Canada twice, put a city at the center of their one new video and asked viewers what counts.

Who said a Thruhike has to be in the wilderness?
Renee and Tim made their name on long trails. Their channel's about page counts more than 10,000 miles walked together, including Mexico to Canada twice, and they wrote a book called Thruhikers: A Guide to Life on the Trail. This week's one new upload asks a question that sounds almost heretical from them: "Who said a Thruhike has to be in the wilderness?"
The tags point to an urban thruhike, and the comment section took the question seriously. The most liked reply argues that a walk only counts as a thruhike if it lasts several days, with hostels or hotels standing in for the tent. Others offer names of their own (a thru walk, an urban hike), plan their routes around a café lunch, or describe crossing Paris on foot from one station to another. Several viewers say the city walks are what finally got them moving, and a couple of them noticed a rattlesnake that came very close. Requests for Atlanta and Tampa are already in.
The new video reached about 37,000 views in its first twelve hours. Behind it, two late-summer uploads keep turning over: the Sierra High Route trip where they left the car with no plan for getting back to it, and the slow experiment of testing one page of a dehydrated tomato sauce binder each month until it spoils.
The channel ran a little below its usual daily pace, still at more than five million views for the week. Among the outdoors and homesteading channels nearest its size, only Tackle2thePeople gathered more, and that channel was running well above its own normal level.
