Wires, pipes and a can of foam left on the shelf: Silver Cymbal's sealing trick
The five-week-old video promises a cheaper way to close gaps around wires and pipes, and it has passed 1.4 million views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Spray Foam is Expensive. Use THIS Instead!
Thirty-five days old and still the video doing nearly all the work: "Spray Foam is Expensive. Use THIS Instead!" is where most of Silver Cymbal's viewers are landing right now. The pitch is in the description, which argues that many homeowners use spray foam wrong around wires, pipes and gaps, and promises a cheap sealing method with no fumes and no half-used cans going to waste.
Nothing new went up on the channel over the past seven days, and it barely shows. The spray foam video is pulling in roughly nine times as many daily views as anything else in the catalog, and the channel overall is running only a little under its usual pace, somewhere above a quarter of a million views a day.
Behind it sit two more fixes from the same practical corner of home life. A garage door project from the spring, billed as making the door seal "as tight as a fridge" in under half an hour, keeps ticking along at 140 days old, and a range hood install that sends kitchen smoke outdoors rather than through a filter is about seven weeks into its run. Insulation, drafts, fumes: the busiest videos all deal with air going where it shouldn't, which fits a channel whose about page simply says it shows how its maker takes care of his own home.
Among the DIY and home channels nearest its size, the big week belongs to BAS Renovations, running at about double its usual pace, while Woodworking Craftsman and Weld.com are also busier than normal and Workshop Companion and Stanley "Dirt Monkey" Genadek are quieter.
