Ultra-thin concrete at ¾ of an inch keeps Modustrial Maker standing
A pair of six-foot GFRC benches, post-tensioned to carry their 210-pound maker, is the busiest video on a channel that posted nothing new.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Did I push Ultra-Thin Concrete TOO FAR?
Three quarters of an inch. That is how thick the concrete is in the benches Modustrial Maker poured a little over a month ago, stretched across a six-foot span with nothing holding up the middle. The title asks whether he pushed ultra-thin concrete too far, and the description lays out the plan: glass fiber reinforced concrete, plus a technique called post tensioning, in the hope that a bench this slim will hold its 210-pound builder standing on top of it.
No new videos went up over the past seven days, and that bench video is still the one picking up the most viewers each day, now close to 200,000 in total. Behind it sit two episodes from the series the channel is built on, the slow conversion of a 6,000-square-foot abandoned building into a home and workshop. Episode four ground 80-year-old concrete floors down to a polished shine; episode six hid LED strips flush in the drywall ceiling of the gallery space, so the light seems to come straight out of it. Both are close to a year old and still turning over.
Without a new upload, the channel ran a little below its usual pace. Among similar DIY and home channels it gathered the fewest views of the week, while BAS Renovations had a very big one and Homeworthy also ran well ahead of its norm. Subscribers kept arriving at a steady trickle, leaving Modustrial Maker about 3,000 short of a million.
