SAMTIME buys the iPhone Duo after sending up its troubles
Three uploads bring an iPhone purchase, a touchscreen MacBook Pro and a Microsoft Office-clone parody into the same week.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
So… I Bought an iPhone Duo
Sam Tucker has gone from parodying the iPhone Duo's problems to buying one. "So… I Bought an iPhone Duo" arrived late in SAMTIME's three-upload week, with the description posing a durability question and joking that his wallet hadn't survived the purchase.
It's already the channel's fastest-moving video right now. There is some history behind that interest: October's "The iPhone Duo Situation is Getting Bad" has reached roughly 3.2 million views and become SAMTIME's most-watched regular upload, above even "Going to Apple Store With $1k These Days".
The biggest audience among this week's releases, though, belongs to "Microsoft Reacts to Vibe Coded Office Clone", approaching a million views. This is a parody, not a Microsoft statement: Tucker plays a company spokesman confronting WordCraft, GridCraft and DeckCraft, AI-built alternatives with conspicuously familiar names. His character's objection grows sharper when he discovers they were made using Claude rather than Copilot. Viewers pick up on the reversal of companies finding themselves replaceable, while others point to the longstanding existence of LibreOffice and OpenOffice.
"So… Apple Just Made a Touchscreen MacBook Pro" completes the week's big-tech teasing. Across the channel, subscribers grew, although the current daily viewing pace is a little below usual. SAMTIME nevertheless had the largest weekly view gain among its nearby technology peers; DanKamYouKnow and MacRumors are seeing above-usual daily viewing, while fpt. is quieter.
For Tucker, the distinctive turn is the purchase: the iPhone Duo is no longer only material for a mock launch.
