Digital teletubbies on stage: SAMTIME's 'OpenAI Dots Failed Live on Stage'
Sam Tucker's parody of a cute AI gadget demo gone wrong passed 770,000 views, while his Googlebook sketch got off to a quick start in its first twelve hours.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
OpenAI Dots Failed Live on Stage
"OpenAI Dots Failed Live on Stage" is Sam Tucker's latest parody on SAMTIME, and it puts a fictional OpenAI keynote, and its little gadgets called Dots, in front of the audience exactly when it would rather not be. The description only admits to "a couple of oopsies." The comments fill in the rest: viewers keep quoting a Dot answering "still checking" in a tone they read as passive aggressive, a burn about knowing what a soul is, and a running complaint that a whole consumer electronics market was bent out of shape for this. One commenter sums it up as "digital teletubbies," and the line collected more likes than anything else beneath the video.
It was the biggest of three uploads, keeping to the Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule the channel promises. Before it came "The Current State of Siri AI," which the description calls Apple Intelligence going from one kind of train wreck to another. After it came "Apple Reacts to Googlebook Launch," a short sketch of Apple shrugging at Google's new laptops. Twelve hours after it went up, the Googlebook video was already the busiest thing on the channel.
Daily views ran a little under the channel's usual level, and subscribers grew modestly. Even so, among the tech channels close to it in size, none gathered more views over the week than SAMTIME. That is a fair result for a channel whose about text promises it is not smelling the farts of the big tech companies.
