Musk's 2024 prison-sentence joke returns after the midterms

NowThis Impact's fast-starting Short revisits a laughing exchange with Tucker Carlson, rather than a new response to the election results.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 641,180 views a day, 10 times a normal first day on this channel (61,391).

asks what happens if Donald Trump loses. Elon Musk laughs, then imagines the consequences for himself: "How long do you think my prison sentence is going to be?"

That exchange is the centerpiece of NowThis Impact's "Billionaire Panic Is Real," which reached roughly 385,000 views in ten hours, well ahead of the channel's usual pace for Shorts.

The important detail is the date stamped on screen: October 2024. This is an old interview excerpt republished after the midterms, not Musk reacting to the results. The title supplies the channel's present-day framing; the footage shows both men laughing about a hypothetical Trump defeat.

Carlson observes that Musk went all-in. "I have no plausible deniability," Musk replies, before they laugh again. The excerpt does not identify an offense behind the prison-sentence joke.

Its comment section is already several times busier than the channel's usual full first day, with discussion centering on that prison remark and the interview's older date.

Another NowThis Impact Short is drawing nearly as much attention alongside it: "The Plot Twist Is Hilarious," featuring Abdul El-Sayed addressing JD Vance as "habibi." Together, the uploads put an archived pre-election exchange beside a victory-speech moment.
