Iran-aligned Houthi forces have advanced to within about 80 kilometers of Aden, the Yemeni government's temporary capital, according to South Korea's Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) News. Its compilation places the fighting in Yemen alongside a reported American strike on Iran's Qeshm Island, showing military escalation and diplomatic efforts unfolding across the region.
The opening report, by correspondent Jung Yoon-seop, describes Houthi drone attacks and includes testimony from Suja Amer, a resident of Taiz. A later segment reports Saudi-led coalition airstrikes on a Yemeni Red Sea port and a Houthi warning of attacks on Saudi oil company Aramco.
The Qeshm report begins shortly before the two-minute mark. It cites The Wall Street Journal, which quoted U.S. officials saying American forces had struck the island to prevent Iran from freely attacking merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The officials characterized the operation as defensive.
The accompanying description also cites Iran's state news agency IRNA reporting several explosions near Qeshm on November 2. It says the cause had not been established and Iranian authorities had not issued an official statement at that stage. Those explosion reports and the U.S. officials' account are distinct sources, rather than an Iranian confirmation of an American strike.
The island's significance is both military and economic. The report describes Revolutionary Guard naval facilities and missile- and drone-related installations there, alongside infrastructure used to store and load oil and natural gas onto ships.
Diplomatic signals run through the compilation, too. It reports willingness to pursue talks from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as well as a Qatari delegation's visit to Tehran. Other segments describe Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei ordering military preparedness and an immediate response without restrictions, while U.S. President Donald Trump raises the possibility of further attacks, including on Pickaxe Mountain.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio presents diplomacy as Washington's preference: "We have everything we need to be successful, but we would prefer to do it peacefully."
The upload combines broadcasts bearing several different dates, rather than presenting a single continuous update. Its later reports cover Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call for another strike, Trump's reluctance to commit, and an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz and the largest in the Persian Gulf. It has an underground complex containing missiles, rockets and drones.
