Early snow catches northern Japan off guard
Unexpected heavy snow in northern Japan drew South Korea’s biggest news-video audience since yesterday. A tanker’s narrow escape at a Polish railway crossing also attracted attention, alongside phone defects and the prosecution’s renewed death-penalty request for former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Snow and a narrow escape
- The 24-hour news channel YTN showed snow sweeping across Hokkaido and stranding vehicles on mountain roads in Aomori Prefecture. Aomori city recorded its first October snowfall in 16 years, it reported.
- Publicly owned broadcaster MBC News showed another truck driver lifting a crossing barrier to free a trapped tanker near Poznan, Poland. A train passed seconds after the tanker cleared the tracks.

Yoon trial and border tensions
- MBC reported that prosecutors again sought the death penalty on appeal for Yoon over leading an insurrection. Its coverage examined the lower court’s life sentence and criticism of its reasoning.
- KBS reported North Korean short-range ballistic missile launches and forward deployment of artillery near the border. It also covered South Korea’s unanswered proposal for military talks.
