Sarıgül allegations and inquiry lead Turkey’s news
CNN TÜRK’s most-watched report examined sexual harassment and abuse allegations involving Mustafa Sarıgül. Other prominent coverage followed Sinem Dedetaş’s release to house arrest and a rock formation’s collapse in Cappadocia.
Allegations under investigation
- On CNN TÜRK, journalist Musa Kesler said prosecutors were examining allegations involving Sarıgül, including sexual abuse of minors, and reported detentions connected to the inquiry.
- Kesler also recalled Sarıgül’s denial that an earlier leaked intimate video was authentic, citing a forensic firm’s report that it had been manipulated.
Dedetaş returns home
- SÖZCÜ Televizyonu, the opposition-leaning newspaper’s news channel, reported that Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş had been granted release from prison under house arrest.
- Supporters welcomed her home with flowers and applause. Speaking to Sözcü, she called her return alongside Republic Day a double celebration and wished for imprisoned colleagues’ release.
