For South Korea's semiconductor industry, the US election carries a question beyond who controls Congress: what happens to the American investment driving demand for chips?

South Korea's Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) closes its midterm special with that economic question, after following the count and examining its implications from Beijing to Berlin. The broadcast drew about 1.5 million views since yesterday.

Reporter Shin Su-a considers both a Democratic sweep and a divided Congress, outlining potential consequences for Korean stocks, semiconductors, AI data centers and batteries. Hyundai Motor Securities analyst Kim Jae-seung points to already tight semiconductor demand, adding context to the uncertainty surrounding future US construction and investment.

The international dispatches offer different readings of the same election. From Beijing, correspondent Lee Pil-hee reports Chinese experts treating Democratic congressional gains as a redistribution of power between America's two parties, rather than necessarily a fundamental change in Washington's approach to China. The discussion includes the implications for Taiwan.

From Berlin, Lee Ji-su reports European concerns that an electoral defeat could lead Trump to make harsher demands abroad. The report raises possible reductions in US troop deployments in Europe and support for Ukraine, presenting these as risks under discussion, not announced decisions.

Much of the opening coverage captures an earlier stage of election night, when Senate control remained a projection rather than a settled outcome. Reporter Jang Hyun-joo follows Democratic strength in Georgia and North Carolina, while Kyung Hee University professor Ahn Byong-jin assesses Ohio and Texas exit polls.

New York and Los Angeles dispatches also cover controversy over federal election monitors and National Guard deployments around polling places. Together, the segments explain why this American vote was being watched not only for its congressional arithmetic, but for decisions affecting security abroad and industrial investment in South Korea.
