Suppressors, SBRs and short shotguns off the NFA: Mrgunsngear on the DOJ's decision
The Justice Department and the ATF declined to challenge the ruling, and a million-subscriber channel spent its Saturday on the fine print.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Breaking - Big NFA Update From The Department Of Justice!
Mrgunsngear Channel sits at a million subscribers, and its biggest upload of the week came with "Breaking" in the title. The description lays out the news: the Department of Justice and the ATF have officially declined to challenge a recent ruling that removes suppressors, short-barreled rifles and short-barreled shotguns from the National Firearms Act. The video promises that "the details do matter" and walks through them. It drew more than 120,000 views in its first day, far beyond anything else the channel posted.
The comments go well past the ruling itself. Many viewers bring up Form 4473, the paperwork filed at every gun store sale, and ask what should or should not be on it. Others want the change written into law so a later administration cannot undo it. A few have spotted fish jumping in the canal behind him.
The week opened with a different kind of law. Garrett's Law, introduced in Congress and several states, would regulate pellet guns like real firearms, and the channel's breakdown has passed 97,000 views. In between came a range day with the One Horse OH-15, tested for accuracy and pitched in the title as a possible new budget AR-15 favorite.
Overall it was a slower stretch than usual, with daily views running below the channel's normal pace, and among similar military and weapons channels it gained the fewest views of the week. Max Afterburner had the big week in that group, while BFBS Forces News ran a little above its usual pace.
